Camel Wrestling

by Emre Kuheylan

Camel wrestling is an old traditional event in the Aegean region of Turkey. This event is taken place in 30-40 different locations during winter and spring seasons. I took these photos at many different locations in 2 years of time. In this project, you will find more human photos than camel related ones. Honestly, I found their behaviors more interesting than camels.

Slightly misleading title - where the camels and the wrestling?

    Hello Matt,
You can be a little right about the title issue if you look at the story with a direct angle.
I tried to show the story by using sideways other than main road. I usually take the most interesting stuff out of the main thing. More like substories…
It is kinda my personal choice to tell things. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks…

    I understand. Great images though.

  7. Ali says:

    Very well taken… “pointless” photographs.
Superb shots, but don’t seem to form a series.

    Hi Ali,
I like to use sideways instead of main ones as i said on a previous comment. I think you missed that part.
Using wrestling camels in this serie is the easiest way and the most common way. But imagine wrestling camels and add this photos to that image on your mind. Here is the whole event and you are also a part of it now…
