Every year in Maia - Portugal, people gather from all over the country to pay promises made to the local saint " Nossa Srª do Bom Despacho".
Religious devotion has in Portugal a high impact on society, and it´s possible every summer to watch thousands of people gathering in religious celebrations. Many of these people come here to pay promises made to the saint who is said be the helper of those in great distress. The main highlight of the celebration is the parade of children dressed as the saint in order to pay tribute to fulfilled promises.
