The Pain of Tibet

by Erwin Serlé

We visited Lhasa in 2007, just some weeks before the shit hit the Olympic fan. A lot of civil unrest led to mayhem. On television we saw the street to our hotel filled with police and army, damage and fire.

Although most of it remains hidden from tourists, every day one can see little examples of the uneasy living together of traditional Tibetans and Chinese.

And most of the Chinese did not move to Tibet on their own account.

It would have been good to have seen in the images ‘the little examples of the unease’.Nice pics but they don’t portray the description of the story.
