MELASTI CEREMONY

Particularly, melasti is a form of religious feast performed by Hindu Balinese in Indonesia as a part of Nyepi or seclusion day ceremony. the event commonly held few days before the Nyepi day on symbolic purpose of purifying the human nature and environment. Melasti generally takes place around February or March each year, after the converse from Balinese calendar. The rituals of melasti are celebrated next to the water reserves or beaches, regarding the water as a symbol to wash away human sins and nature's imbalance.
