POGLEDI IZ MOSTARA - VIEWS FROM MOSTAR

by Thomas Janssens

The Dayton agreements in 1995 marked the end of the Bosnia-Herzegovina war. Since then the country has never been front-page news, but after more than ten years the effects of the conflict are still tangible. In Mostar Muslims and Croats have to live together again after years of hostility.

In this series I try to sketch a picture of Mostar. A picture of people that I met, of places that I discovered, of all the things that I have been through.
The town that hosts Muslims and Croats who live separately on both sides of the river, the town where the chiming of bells occasionally interferes with the chants in the minaret.
But also the town where the memory of the war is still relatively fresh and where – surprisingly – life just goes on.
