The Fine Art Of Hell is a distinct collection of works of Dana Simmons.
The photographs are a body of work devoted to a specific project over a period of
eight to ten years, and taken during fetish nights, at Club Hell, in Providence, Rhode
Island; culminating in the presentation of these selected works by the artist.
The photographs are a dynamic presentation with a personal passion
and commitment that captures and elicits a range of emotions that one cannot escape.
The images undeniably document a period in time and a subculture of individuals
infatuated with the adornment of the body, exhibitionism, voyeurism, bondage,
fetishism and a host of a plethora of subcategories.
The Fine Art Of Hell is a ceremonious voyage of visually sublimated desires and a
forgiving submissiveness that embraces a cautiously intrinsic human nature; channeling impulses or energies regarded as unacceptable, especially sexual desires, toward an activity that is more socially acceptable. Often a creative activity. It sheds light into the mind as the center of thought and behavior and asks of us to be less judgmental and more understanding, open, and accepting of others.
