My fondest memories from the two years that I lived in New York City involve the diverse people and varied activities that take place on the streets of the city. I visited NYC for the first time in over 20 years this summer and I immediately felt a rush of joy and excitement. "Return to NYC" is my series of candid photographs documenting ordinary people going about their daily lives in public spaces of the city. These photos display the character of a variety of New Yorkers. They also contain a rich tapestry of environmental components befitting the complex nature of this metropolis. Creating these images required quick reactions, a great deal of shoe leather and a bit of serendipity since there are no second-takes for this type of photography. As always, the goal of my work is to create compelling photographs that provide a glimpse into aspects of the human condition.
