RESET

"RESET" deals with moments of reminiscence, the re-experiencing ofyesteryear and the emotional turbulence provoked by retrospection.New experiences and the marks they leave make it impossible to relive a situation identically.We are upgraded versions of the persons that once experienced the past. New emotions are burned in,old ones bleached out. „RESET“ is the symbolic exploration of this idea.Based on my private digital photo archive, the 15 selected images in this work,are pictures-of-pictures, photographed from a computer monitor using a high-end camera.Through this process, each "picture-of-a-picture" accrues additional emotional layers.The emotions that come from retrospection are filtered and subsequently madeconcrete by means of this analogue intervention. A picture of a rainbow seemsto have been taken through a wet glass pane. In reality, water has been sprayeddirectly onto the monitor, forming an additional strata between screen and lens.Thus, two distinct temporal levels coalesce. Yet in some instances, this constructquickly breaks down to reveals its true nature: drops of water, broken through theRGB of the screen appear almost tactile; an interaction of flash and confetti castinga hard shadow onto the screen.
